Hot-shot Giblin leads the way

KEVIN Giblin's 15th and 16th goals of the season kept Radclyffe Arms hot on the heels of Premier Division leaders Langley Rangers.

His brace, added to a Steve Brice strike, edged Arms past host Alkrington Dynamos 3-2.

The table toppers were in knockout action, beating Crown Villa 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the North West Champions Cup.

Elsewhere, Lord and Ward found the target for St Clares in a 2-0 win at Old David, while Lewis (2) helped Alliance to a point against Lancashire Fold for whom Conroy and Wykes were the scorers.

In Division One, Lyons netted a hat-trick as Cardinal Villa beat Railway 4-2 at home. The win lifted them off the bottom of the pile at the expense of their rivals.

Higher Blackley RBL took advantage of New Broom's weekend off to move three points clear at the top with a 2-1 win over Old Cock. C Jordan and D Jordan netted the vital goals, with Vero bagging a consolation.

Bricklayers are in third place despite losing 3-2 at home to Royal Oak. Goals from Hayward, Lord and Fisher gave Oak heart, while Keogh and Smith found the target for Arms.

New White Lion kept Gardeners in check with a 3-1 win.

In the first round of the HPS Challenge Cup, Worsley's goal for Hebers wasn't enough to save them from defeat by Carters Rhodes. Jennings and Evans struck to see their side progress.
