AQUABEARS' star Kerri-anne Payne smashed a British junior record in the Scottish championships. But she just failed to make the world championship qualifying time in the women's 1,500m freestyle.

Middleton schoolgirl Kerri-anne took three silver medals behind Britain's number one Becky Cooke. Her successes came in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle events. She broke a 23-year-old record which had been held by Southend's Olympic swimmer Jackie Willmot.
