Priory in love with a hit man

12/ 3/2003

PRIORY'S Brian Love was the toast of the day after he scored a couple of the goals that wrenched three points away from New Broom in a BASSA League match.

John Joyce gave Broom a first-half lead. But midway into the second half Love made a 70-yard run to equalise.

He scored the winner from close range with five minutes left.

Legs of Man scored after 30 seconds of their match against Premier Autos. Ray Nevins produced the first of his hat-trick.

Dean Duncan, Sean Pierira and Peter Nordoff were also on the mark in a 6-0 romp for Legs.

Nelson are pushing hard for the Division One title. They picked up another three points by beating Kersal Celtic 3-1. Damion Turner (2) and Paul Lister claimed the goals.

Ashley Brook maintained their one-point advantage at the top thanks to a 6-2 home win over Blackley Rangers.

Langworthy Lads held off Taylors to win 2-1 and stay in third place.

Vine were almost caught out by bottom-placed Lamb Inn, but they emerged from a tight game as 3-2 winners.

The BASSA inter league team takes on Eccles in the Greater Manchester Open Age Knockout on Sunday. The match will be at Bolton Road Playing Fields, Salford, kick-off 11am.
