Nelson reach cup semi

5/ 3/2003

ONLY two games were played in the BASSA League last weekend and both were Bill Howarth Cup quarter-final ties.

Nelson are through after turfing out Premier side White Lion. Lion have fallen on hard times after leading their division up to Christmas. Bates bagged a couple to take his tally for the season to 42. Two more from Scott gave Nelson a comfortable 4-1 win.

Premier Autos and Ashley Brook put on a thrilling and highly entertaining match. Davis and Muir (penalty) put Autos in the driving seat. But Brook hit back to level both times. Brook took the lead early in the second half only for Patrick Omari to level. Autos suffered injuries to key defenders and Brook grabbed a late winner.

The league is inviting applications for next season. Clubs interested should contact Dave Whelan on 07949 539 652.
