Ashley held up

TWO of the top three teams in Division One of the BASSA League were held to draws last weekend.

Ashley Brook who have been leaders for some time shared four goals with a fast improving Vine team.

Langworthy Lads were making a strong push for promotion. But they suffered a setback when held 1-1 by Taylors.

The bottom two teams, Ostrich and Lamb Inn, drew 3-3.

Kersal Celtic travelled to play Blackley Rangers and took the points with a comfortable 3-1 win.

The best game of the day was a seven-goal thriller between Nelson and Priory Unicorn. Bates (2) and Scott found the net to give Nelson a 3-0 half-time lead. Bowers pulled two back for Priory and the game opened up as both teams went for goal. Scott scored his second of the match and 14th of the season to make it 4-2. Dodds set up a grandstand finish when he lashed home a 25-yarder for Priory's third.

This result put Nelson firmly in the top three with all to play for.
