JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Moston Juniors 3 Failsworth Dynamos 2

JUNIORS under 7s were made to battle hard against a much-improved Dynamos team, but in the end they did enough to win a tight game.

Juniors started well from the off, and several chances came and went before Ethan Daly delivered a defence splitting pass for Sam Roden to score with a clinical strike. Juniors doubled their lead when Anthony Bowen curled a perfect corner into the back of the net. Dynamos got back in the game when Dale Calvin unfortunately deflected a corner into his own net.

At the start of the second half it was all Moston, with Ryan Richardson and Bowen going close before Bowen scored his second and Juniors third with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Dynamos weren't to be beaten, and they powered forward to get their second. The pressure was now on for Juniors as the seconds ticked away. Conway produced some excellent tackles and keeper Lewis Diaper made some excellent saves as Juniors' defence held sound to provide for an excellent result.

Moston Juniors B 2 Northside 3: A TYPICAL derby lived up to its reputation with a thrilling encounter that had the crowd gasping for breath from start to finish. The first chance of the under 8s match fell to Juniors when Adam Davis fed the ball through for Reece Gardner, but his shot drifted past a post.

Northside then took the lead with their first attack. Sean Corcoran brilliantly parried a goalbound shot only to see the rebound fly past him into the back of his net. Juniors continued to press hard, but they were caught on the break for Northside to go two up at half time.

It must have been a powerful motivation Junior team talk, as Juniors came flying out of the blocks in the second half, and chances were soon created for Matthew Dale and Sam Bowles. With Juniors now on top a goal was sure to come, and Ben Strife fed Thomas Pinder who finished with aplomb.

Juniors were now flying, and Jack Neild picked the ball up on the wing, wriggled his way into space, and hit a thunderous left-foot drive into a corner of the net for the equaliser. But Northside weren't finished, and straight from the restart they created an opening to go back in front.

Boundary Park A 0 Moston Juniors 1: THIS under 10s match was a great battle between two good teams. The game went from end to end, with both keepers kept busy.

It was Juniors who got the break when Daryll Grant won the ball in midfield to set up Scott Rodan who scored with a delightful chip from 15 yards. Both teams finished the game exhausted and deserved the applause from the crowd for a game full of excitement. Man of the match was Moston's keeper Christian Kay.
