LANGLEY Rangers under 16s made progress in the County Cup when they beat Fletcher Moss 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
Rangers created chance after chance, but they were unable to get the ball in the net. Fletcher Moss missed their first penalty, then Rangers knocked in all of their five, through Kristen McNeice, Ian Holcroft, Carl Dempsey, Paul Vayro, and Adam Stopford.
Moston Brook 5 Medlock B 1: MOSTON under nines did it again! After recovering from a slow start they went on to record a 5-1 win. At least five chances were created before Jonathan Fogerty fired them into the lead before half time. Dale Jennings' header found the net after the break to double Moston's lead in this Manchester Mini League match. Matthew Woodall then established a 3-0 lead with an excellent shot before doubling his tally when he latched on to a throw-in. Medlock caught Brook's defence napping with five minutes to go. But it proved to be their only joy, as Brook substitute Ryan Cobain scored his second goal to seal the win. Woodall was voted player of the match for his excellent footwork, passing, and teamwork.
Moston Brook 6 AFC Clayton 0: MOSTON under eights enjoyed a comfortable win at home to AFC Clayton. Lewis Hughes scored the first goal after latching onto Joe Knott's throughball. The second was scored by Daniel Allatt, who had been set free by Ryan Jennings. Moston stepped up a gear in the second half Moston and Ryan Jennings scored to make it 3-0. Daniel Allatt followed up with the fourth goal, while Daniel Allatt completed the scoring, and his hat-trick, after a great ball from James Robinson. Ryan Jennings won the player of the match award for a non-stop display of hard work.
Langworthy 2 Saints 3: SAINTS under 12s got off to the worst possible start when a mis-timed tackle gave Langworthy a penalty in the first minute. The home side took the lead from the spot, and they were firing on all cylinders until Reece Richardson pounced onto a through ball to equalise. This only added to Langworthy's determination, and they had Saints pinned in their own half. Saints defended well until a bad clearance went straight to one of the opposition's midfielders who hit the ball from the edge of the box and beat goalkeeper Paul Hey. Saints displayed more attacking flair in the second half but, nevertheless, the game seemed to be slipping away from them. That was until substitute Chris Bell hit a superb shot to level it once more with seven minutes left on the clock. Saints had started to take control, and they were all over the Langworthy defence, with a string of attacks led by player of the match James Drysdale. With time running out Bell again tried his luck from just outside the box. The ball took the slightest of deflections and left the Langworthy keeper stranded as it sailed into the net to give Saints their first away win of the season.
Middleton Juniors 6 Bamford Boys 1: IN A closer game than the score suggests, Middleton made it three wins in a row in the Rochdale Youth League. Hat-tricks from Hayden Partridge and Andrew Whitehouse settled the game. Matthew Ambrose-Allen made several great saves in goal, while Luke Burns and Ryan Maloney were solid at the back. Joe Robinson and Danny Flanagan were creative in midfield. Player of the match was Whitehouse who gave a powerhouse display.
