Dynamos fight back after early blows
6/12/2002
JUNIOR FOOTBALL: North Walkden 4 Middleton Dynamos 3
DYNAMOS found themselves two goals down early in the match. But they then had all the play, and on 14 minutes Callum O'Connor delivered a great ball through to Muzza who fired home.
The game was end to end. Dennis Hoyle and Alex Odell made some great runs and provided some well-timed tackles. The tempo never let up in the second half, with both teams going for the victory.
On 42 minutes McLean picked up a loose ball on the halfway line and went storming down the left before finding the net from a tight angle. Dynamos were on equal terms for all of five minutes before Walkden once again took the lead.
With eight minutes to go Dynamos were awarded a freekick 20 yards out. McLean took it and powered the ball into the back of the net. With two minutes to go the unluckiest of headers landed in the back of the net for an own goal, and Walkden were guaranteed the points. Liam Brewster was named player of the match for Dynamos.
Brendons Bees 5 Middleton Dynamos 6: LESS than 24 hours later Dynamos were in action again, still smarting from the unlucky defeat of the day before. Dynamos were up for this game, and straight from the off Brendons' goal was under attack.
Two minutes in and Dynamos won their first corner. A great ball in from Muzza met the head of Odell who found the back of the net. Two minutes later McLean went on a cracking solo run. His shot had a bit too much on it, but O'Connor was on hand to knock the ball home. Straight from the kick off Dynamos were on the attack again, and O'Connor made a great run to score. O'Connor chipped the ball over the keeper to seal his hat-trick.
Brendons finally had a break with a dubious penalty decision. The keeper got his hand to the kick, but couldn't keep the ball away. Dynamos responded well, and some great one-touch football between McLean, Muzza and O'Connor earned Muzza a great goal.
Brendons replied on the stroke of half time. Brendons scored another before Dynamos found form again for Liam Brewster to score. Brendons were then awarded another even more dubious penalty, and Dynamos had a hairy last 10 minutes to play out. With two minutes to go they scored another, but thankfully for Dynamos Brendons ran out of time. Dennis Hoyle was named player of the match for a great defensive game.
