Junior football round-up

28/11/2002

A ROUND-UP of junior football action.

  • Middleton Colts U11s 4 Moston Juniors U11s 0: DERBY day and both teams turned in good performances with Colts probably the stronger side.

Colts had a few chances in the first couple of minutes with Jamie Greenwood and Richard Harrison going close. But it was left to Jamie Greenwood to finish off a fine move with a terrific shot. Ten minutes later, Matthew Kosylo beat a couple of players in the 18-yard box before hitting a cracking shot into the roof of the net, to make it 2-0 at half time.

The second half was like the first with Liam Mott and Grant Jones in the heart of Colts' defence standing firm and Connor Milne in midfield in outstanding form. Moston were struggling to break Colts down, and following a goalmouth scramble Paul Ojuemie slotted home. With five minutes left, Richard Harrison hit a well-deserved goal. Man of the match was Matthew Kosylo.

  • Langley Rangers U16s 12 Marauders 0: LANGLEY Rangers under 16s were back in action on Sunday in the Whittle Cup when they entertained second division Marauders. The gap between first and second proved too much for Marauders with Rangers scoring an emphatic 12-0 victory. The goal scorers were Jonny Munson (3), Paul Vayro (3), Carl Dempsey (2), James Meade (1), Danny Royle (1), Christopher O'Toole (1) and goalkeeper Ian Holcroft got on the scoresheet with a well struck penalty.

Langley United under 13s hit five goals against Northside, who were unlucky not to have scored but Anthony Morris made a great penalty save. Langley scorers were the in-form Danny Fulham (2) and much improved Paul Burke (1). Lee Bowie and Ben Robinson were both on target.

Amazingly this was Langley's first ever clean sheet in their 31 game history thanks to stand in keeper Anthony Morris who is also Langley's top scorer with 15 goals in six games. Man of the match Ben Robinson.

  • Club 2000 U8s 1 Boundary Park 4: BOUNDARY took control of the first half as Club found it hard to get into the game. In the second half Club were 3-0 down but a corner from Peter Paphitis found Jimmy O'Loughlin who struck the ball on the turn to score a good goal. Boundary had the final say when they got their fourth.
  • Newton Heath 0 Club 2000 0: THE scoreline does not reflect the game as both sides played outstanding football. Club's Alex Dennison, Alex Stones and Andrew Gavana were the star players in this end to end game of football.
  • Club 2000 U15s 4 Holt FC 2: CLUB started the game well with Nicholas Paphitis controlling the midfield. Tom Alton opened the scoring from an Alan Fitton corner. Holt got a Penalty near the end of the first half with Naylor scoring from the spot. In the second half Ryan Walker was put up front and grabbed two goals for Club. Alan Fitton took the ball off a Holt player and finished well to make it four for the Club. Holt got a second penalty and once again Naylor scored from the spot to reduce the gap to 4-2.
