Middleton committee deny any approach

27/11/2002

IN OUR report last week about the threatened walk out of players from Thornham Cricket Club, it was alleged that Middleton Cricket Club had made an approach to Thornham professional Nigel Doyle to play for them next season.

The Middleton club deny any approach has been made to any player from Thornham.

Meanwhile, at the Central Lancashire League Annual Meeting, Middleton are expected to suggest that the fielding circle used for J W Lees Wood Cup matches should be introduced for league games as well.

Middleton would also like to see the back of overseas amateurs who were only allowed back into the league last season after a lengthy gap.
