FOOTBALL: MIDDLETON League football was welcomed back on Sunday as Langley Albion went joint top of the Invincible Double Glazing Premier Division.
Goals from Tudor, Boal, Howitson, and Service made it 11 points from the last 14 for Albion.
Popielek managed one in reply for St Clares who have averaged three goals per game, both for and against.
Crown are closing in on the top spot. They have won their last three games, and are proving unbeatable on home ground. Collins hit three of their goals in a 4-1 win over Radclyffe Arms. Moore was the other scorer for Crown, while Jones replied for Radclyffe.
Cardinal Villa and Harbord/Harbord shared six goals. Villa have yet to score a home win this season, and Harbord haven't won away, so perhaps a draw was on the cards. Williams bagged two for Villa whose other scorer was Rowbotham. cLoughlin (2) and Smedley netted for Harbord who have bagged only five points from a possible 20.
Gardeners Arms beat Middleton Wanderers 2-0 to climb to third place in Division Two. Fitzpatrick and Hall scored for Gardeners who have a 100 per cent home record.
Hare and Hounds and New White Lion fought out a 4-4 draw. Bracegirdle scored two for Hares, as did A Butler for Lion.
