All set for the opening

SPORTS personalities and special guests will attend next Wednesday's opening of The Sports Arena, the new multi-million pounds sports hall and boxing academy at Hopwood Hall College.

Sports Arena will be the biggest sports venue in the Rochdale Borough.

There are two full sized sports halls, an aerobics studio, a fitness centre, and seminar rooms.

It is situated at the Middleton site of the college.

The Arena will be used by community groups, professional clubs, and individuals who join the Hopwood Fitness Suite which will be part of the Arena.

The new boxing academy has been developed in conjunction with the ABA. It is situated in the former chapel of the campus.

The Academy has already recruited close on 30 students who will take full time study courses and develop their boxing skills while on the courses.

Ivan Lewis, MP, the Parliamentary Secretary of State for Adult Learning will officially open the Arena.

Manchester United star Paul Scholes will be involved in the opening ceremony.

The Boxing Academy will be officially opened by WBU World Welterweight champion Ricky Hatton.

The Academy has been sponsored by Title UK. Oxide have sponsored equipment for the Sports Arena.
