THE height of an English summer, and Terry Martin and Robin Tilley find themselves pushing the water off a bowling green before play can start.
The task was completed after a downpour at Tonge Bowling Club, and the finals of the Tonge Classic were able to go on.
The final was won by Gary Ellis who beat Dave Griffiths 21-9. Beaten semi-finalists were J Derby and Dave Thornley.
