Football stars set for Youth Games

29/ 5/2002

MIDDLETON Technology School's Year Seven girls have qualified for the Greater Manchester Youth Games by keeping their goal intact throughout a tournament.

The Rochdale Six-a-side Championships, held at Heywood's Siddal Moor High School, saw the team play three group games and the final. Striker Liez Fletcher scored all of the team's seven goals.

The girls will represent Rochdale in the Greater Manchester Youth Games, which will be held at Wigan's Robin Park next month.

Teacher and coach Becky Dennard said: "I'm really pleased for them. They're a great bunch of girls, and a fantastic team to work with. We're very confident going into the Games. We're strong all over, and we have nothing to fear."

The title is the school's second trophy in the space of a few months. The under 13 side won the Adidas Community Cup earlier this year.
