FOOTBALL: Manchester United 0 Hopwood Girls 3

UNITED started strong favourites in this semi-final of the Lancashire Cup, with home advantage and a majority of the spectators present.

But Hopwood again had the voodoo on them, and the local girls struck after 15 minutes. Leanne Durford opened the scoring with a cool finish.

Next on the scoresheet was Leanne Cloy who fired home from inside the six-yard box after good work by Stephanie Sumner. Hopwood seized the moment to end United's cup run, and Ashia Fellini scored.

Paula Duffy and Stephanie Bradburn were outstanding for Hopwood.
