DEAN Lee, who trains at the KNK Judo Club in Middleton, under senior coach John Drogan, has attained his first dan black belt after only 12 months in the sport.

He was successful in gradings held in St Helens.

On the same day, Heather Madden, Olivia Coghlan, and Geogia Meade reached orange belt status.
