Rangers romp to cup win

FOR THE first time since December, the Blackley Sunday League managed to get in a full set of fixtures, albeit with the help of some clubs switching grounds.

The result that caught the eye came in the BASSA Cup, as Monsall Rangers stormed to an emphatic 3-0 win over group table-toppers LMP Stars. Corcoran opened the scoring with a cracker from 20 yards out. Dove bagged the second, with a freekick, and Fox killed the game off with the third goal 20 minutes from time.

This group is so competitive that only four points cover the five clubs. Monsall still head the league table, but the gap between them and the chasing pack was narrowed. Museum hammered Northern Colts 10-1, Premier Autos were 2-0 home winners over Blackley Rangers, and Legs of Man crushed Lightbowne 4-0. Legs were always in control. Their goals came from Jarret, Evans, Corbett, and Nevins.

Premier Autos struggled to overcome an improving Blackley team. Lamb Inn chalked up their second win of the season. They hit six against Vine who managed only one in reply.

Fixtures - BASSA Cup Group A: Pint Pot v Museum; Premier Autos v Monsall Rangers. Group B: Legs of Man v Lightbowne; Vine v Dover Castle; Hope v Cyns. Group C: Taylors v Northern Colts; Airport v Lamb Inn; Blackley Rangers v Kersal.
