Jamie fails in title bid

MIDDLETON'S Jamie Barker narrowly failed in his bid to claim a title in the North West Schoolboy finals held at the Everton Park Sports Centre, in Liverpool, on Saturday.
The 11-year-old, who fights out of Oldham Boys ABC, made a cautious start against J Quigley of Tower ABC, and this allowed his home town opponent to score well in the early rounds.
James, from Boarshaw, rallied and produced a great last round, but it was not enough as Quigley won on the count back 28 to 33.
