Windies ace wins the vote to lead greats

MIDDLETON Cricket Club has had some great players in the last 50 years, and this fact was reflected in the voting for the club's greatest team of those years.

As far as the amateurs were concerned it was so tight that they could hardly be split. But as far as the professional was concerned it was a runaway almost maximum vote for West Indian Roy Gilchrist.

The players voted for (all amateurs apart from Peter Sleep) were Ken McEntyre, Jimy Hyde, Leon Taylor, Derek Johnson, Jimmy Ryan, Ken Collinge, Paul Rocca, Roger Clarkson, Alf Barlow, Eric Price, Andy Travis, Harry McDougall, Simon Kennedy, Peter Fawkes, Lee Wolstenholme, Barry Holmes, Edwin Kay, Peter Davey, Andy Turner, and Barry Hamilton.
