Harriers race to 21st year marker

MIDDLETON Harriers celebrated their club's 21st birthday on Saturday - with a presentation night to the athletes who had won trophies and medals during the past season.

Among the guests were Roger Colson, who was one of the club's co-founders when it was re-established 21 years ago.

The presentation evening was at the Clayton Arms - Oldham Athletics' function room - and members and guests enjoyed a meal and disco. Main presentations were to the club's champions, Christine Brookes and Paul Blackshaw.

But there was also a glittering array of shields, cups and trophies in recognition of the achievement and endeavour of the members from 10k races to marathons.
