Capital show clinches title

MIDDLETON’S Lance McDermott has won the largest purse in mountain-bike events by taking the overall title in the Nissan Qashqai Challenge.
The final round of the championship series was held in London last weekend when McDermott took third place to clinch the title and 40,000 Euros from Germany’s Benny Korthaus.
Lance was all smiles after the event held in front of a crowd of 50,000 and said: "Riders take their two best rides out of three to count, so when my main rival crashed out on his second run he left himself with it all to do.
"I was thinking one more safe run, and then had a little spill and put loads of pressure on myself before a good third run."
