Hill goal is a high point

10/ 4/2008

ALEX Hill was player of the match as Middleton Boys under 11s B beat Walshaw Park 5-1 in a North Bury Junior League clash.

Middleton soon had Walshaw under pressure, and they created some good chances. But they were undone as Walshaw took the lead in a quick counter-attack.

The Walshaw keeper made some fine saves, but he was beaten 10 minutes from half time when Middleton struck three times in as many minutes.

A John Ezard corner cross was cleared to the edge of the area and Alex Hill hit a screamer which the keeper could only parry into the net.

Simon Riley then turned a defender on the edge of the area and curled a shot into a corner of the net.

The third followed Bradley Ashton’s strong run into the area. His cross found Corey Goodey who thumped the ball into the roof of the net.

Middleton quickly added a fourth in the second half. Walshaw failed to clear a corner and Josh Gorton pounced to score.

Middleton wasted a hatful of chances before Luke Barry’s through ball found Tunmise Ojo whose flick caught out defenders and put Josh Gorton clear to shoot across the keeper and into the net.
