Gardeners hit by Railway strike

DARTS: RAILWAY and Linnet won the Middleton Monday League’s knockout cup to deny Gardeners Arms (Sandy Lane) of a league and cup double.

The Grimshaw Lane men won 5-2 on the oche and 2-1 on the crib table.

The Subsiduary trophy went to Joiners who were 4-3 winners over Woodman on the oche and 2-1 victors at cards.

Both finals were played at the Carters Arms.

Lancashire Fold's Mike Clough raced round the board in only 14 darts in the Middleton Me’'s Thursday League. But his team lost narrowly to Railway and Linnet.

A superb 13-darter came from Dave Skelton of the Charlestown team which was beaten by the odd game in seven by Woodside WMC.

Middleton Junction had an excellent 6-1 win over Higher Blackley Conservative Club. That was also the score by which leaders Grove (Blackley) beat White House.

A close encounter at the Victoria saw the home side beat Boarshaw WMC 4-3.
