CHILDREN at St Mary’s School in Middleton have been learning the basics of golf.
Irons were replaced by plastic clubs, and balls were plastic, but after all, they were indoors.
The golf sessions stem from the Cardinal Langley School Sport partnership which includes 37 primary and seven secondary schools in the Rochdale Borough.
Golf is one of the sports targeted by the partnership with the help of money from the Big Lottery Fund.
Both indoor and outdoor "lessons" are held by Castle Hawk professional Ryan Grumbridge who has been involved with the partnership in setting up after-school sessions.
