Harriers double up for a treble

MIDDLETON Harriers Mick Flatley and Ginny Willey retained their road race and fell-race club titles in the 2007 season, making it the third successive year they had each won both championships.
They were among the many athletes, a lot of them from Rochdale, whose achievements were recognised during the club’s annual presentation evening at the Ratcliffe Arms, Spotland, on Saturday.
Trophies were presented by Harriers’ president Jack Kirk and chairman Roy Lee.
John Reilly and Christine Brooks were the club’s male veteran and female veteran champions.
Clubman of the Year and Club Woman of the Year awards went to Peter Gilligan and Kyrinda Hurst-Moore.
Race awards went to:
Men’s road running: 1 Mick Flatley, 2 John Reilly, 3 Pat Byrne. Veteran 40 - Charlie Bowcock. Veteran 45 - Pat Byrne. Veteran 50 - Steve Senior. Veteran 55 and veteran overall champion - John Reilly. Veteran 60 - Mick Buck. Veteran 65 - Derek Bury. Most improved runner - Charlie Bowcock.
Women’s road running: 1 Ginny Willey, 2 Tracey Lawless, 3 Christine Brooks. Veteran 40 - Kyrinda Hurst-Moore. Veteran 50 and overall champion - Christine Brookes. Veteran 55 - Linda Rhodes. Most improved runner - Ginny Willey.
Marathon: Best open time - Mick Flatley. Best ladies’ open time - Teresa Hollins. Best veteran - Malc Bostock.
