Cantello is the star as Boys go nap

MIDDLETON Boys under 12s hit five goals without reply from Whitworth in a North Bury Junior League match.

Middleton edged the first half but didn’t create any clear cut chances.

The turning point came when James Cantello intercepted a poor pass and ran on to drill a terrific low shot into the net.

Middleton applied pressure and added a second when Corey Goodey played the ball into the path of Tunmise Ojo who drew the keeper and hit his shot into a top corner.

Whitworth tried to get back into the game but never created any clear cut chances.

With the momentum behind them Middleton added a third. Whitworth were caught on the break and John Ezard skipped past a defender to rifle a shot over the keeper.

Middleton’s fourth came when Bradley Ashton’sheader found James Cantello who turned and shot home.

A commanding team performance was rounded off when Corey Goodey had time to pick his spot at the back post from a corner cross.

The referees’ player of the match was James Cantello.

BRANDON Ryan was inspirational in Middleton Boys’ under nines 1-0 victory over a very well organised Swinton Junior Jaguars.

He was backed up by a great midfield display from Dylan Whyte and the defence of Tom Markham, Lewis White and Kayden Nolan.

It was a quiet morning for goalkeeper Matthew Clarke.

Striker Cameron Boland was unlucky to find Jaguars’ goalkeeper in fantastic form.

George Dean was tireless on the left side of midfield, and Mark Monks also played his part.

The only goal of the game came from Elliot Lynch late in the second half. He beat the keeper from just inside the area.

Player of the match was Brandon Ryan

Boys are top of the table, having won all four of their games to date.
