Celtic aim to repeat last season's success

LANGLEY Celtic will once again be the team to catch in the Middleton Sunday League which begins this weekend.

Despite changes off the field following the departure of manager Steve Horan all the teams in the revamped league will be looking to overhaul Celtic who last year recorded the perfect season in the league and cup competitions.

Cardinal Villa, who were defeated by Celtic in the Challenge Shield final in May, are the champions’ first opponents at Parkfield on Sunday.

Radclyffe FC and Woodman spent last season slugging it out for the First Division title and they meet again on day one of the Premier Division season.

Dog Inn (previously Red Barn) are the third side promoted when the divisions were reorganised and they get underway with a home game against Alliance.

In the other Premier game Langley Rangers travel to Gardeners Sandy Lane.

An odd number of teams in Division one will mean one of the sides sit it out most weeks – Middleton Colts are the team with time on their hands on Sunday.

Inter Alliance are at home to Old David’s Our Ladys entertain Hebers FC (formerly The Brunswick) and St Clares are at home to Old Cock in the other opening day fixtures.
