Colts meet their idols in Summer Cup contest

MIDDLETON Colts Ladies FC played "idols" Everton Ladies in the Manchester Summer Cup.
Everton fielded England squad players including Rachel Brown in goal and Rachel Unit in defence.
The game, won by Everton, captured the spirit of football in one of the most prestigious women’s tournaments.
Where else could a local ladies’ team play a match against one of England's best.
Middleton went on to win their group of the Challenge Bowl by defeating Sefton Peronni 3-2.
Chantelle Henshall scored the first goal by chipping the keeper. The second goal came from Sharon Turner, then defender Shauna Hurndall cracked home the winner.
After only one season in the Open age Cheshire and Manchester Ladies League, Middleton have been promoted to Division One for the 2008-9 season.
