Final spot for Woodman

24/ 4/2008

WOODMAN beat VASA 4-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Middleton Sunday League’s HPS Challenge Cup.

Free-scoring Steve Goodier and Ryan Worsley scored two each.

Their reward is a home tie against Alliance at Parkfield.

Favourites Langley Celtic didn’t have it all their own way in last Thursday’s other second round match, but they still had enough firepower to win 3-1.

All four quarter-finals are scheduled to be played tonight.

Celtic are in cup action again on Sunday in a semi-final of the Challenge Shield. Sunday also features the John Matthews Trophy semi-finals.

FC Radclyffe did make it to one cup final – but only just.

Their Geoffrey Allen Memorial semi-final against Kesteral was level at 4-4 after extra time and had to be decided on penalties, Radclyffe winning through.
