Byrne and Glynn are VIPs for Dynamos

AFTER weeks of rain and waterlogged pitches Alkrington Dynamos were back in action on Saturday with an important 2-1 Lancashire and Cheshire League win over VIP.

The game started in disastrous fashion for Alkrington, as VIP scored from a corner in the first minute.

The game then swung into a real end to end battle.

Dynamos showed a fighting spirit that had been missing in previous games and deservedly scored an equaliser on the half hour.

The ever dangerous Michael Henson, a constant threat to the VIP defence, was predictably involved in the move which saw midfielder Paul Byrne latch onto a loose ball and lash it home from close range.

Dynamos continued to press, and with 10 minutes of the first half remaining Garry Glynn was on hand to find the back of the VIP net.

The second half saw both sides committed to one of the games of the season.

Alkrington’s defence had to dig deep at times but always looked sound under the guidance of centre backs Gary Glynn and Carl Agana.

Dynamos went close again when Agana was unlucky to hit the bar.

Dynamos’ seconds ran out 5-1 home winners over Stretfordians.

They were soon on the scoresheet through James Grimshaw who completed his hat-trick before half time.

The second half saw Stretford come back into the game for a time. They forced one home from close range, and when they were awarded a penalty a couple of minutes later it could all have ended differently. But a miserable effort, which was well wide of the target, proved their last effort.

Dynamos regained control and added another before Gary Wilson completed the rout.
