Gorton is the B-est for Colts

JOSH Gorton was player of the match as Middleton Boys under 11s B beat Summerseat 5-3 in a North Bury Junior League match.

He claimed three of the goals.

Both teams started cautiously, but Middleton started to gain the upper hand in midfield, thanks to some good, crisp passing, and they broke the deadlock on 18 minutes. Simon Riley's defence-splitting pass found Gorton running through, and he lifted the ball over the keeper.

Summerseat tried to get back into the game but were denied by Daniel Ducie who made some good saves.

Middleton increased their lead in first-half added time. Gorton doubled his tally when he rounded off a good move involving Bradley Ashton and Simon Riley.

Summerseat were thrown a lifeline early in the second half when they netted during a goalmouth scramble.

But a third came for Middleton. John Ezard broke down a Summerseat attack and found Tunmise Ojo. His flick took the ball to Gorton who complted his trio.

Middleton pressed for more goals and the next was a beauty.

Tim Moffatt’s long throw found Oliver Cleworth who flicked the ball over his marker then turned and volleyed home.

The final Middleton goal came from Luke Barry whose low distance shot beat the keeper.

Summerseat notched two late goals, but there was no way back for them.

MIDDLETON Colts Blues beat Chadderton Grasshoppers Blues 4-3 to set up a cup quarter-final.

Colts soon found themselves 2-0 up thanks to the impressive Bailey Lloyd.

Luke McMahon scored the third with a shot from 25-yard.

Colts then let in two quick goals and Chadderton were back in the game.

Midway through the second half Chadderton deservedly drew level, and with no more goals the game went into extra time,

it was end to end stuff, with the home team looking the most likely to score, but with three minutes left The Cleworth Childrens Aftercare Centre player of the match Bailey Lloyd bundled in the winner.
