Super show

20/12/2007

FOLLOWING their weather break, Middleton Juniors returned to action at a bitterly cold and windswept Cardinal Langley pitch on Sunday.

The squad was depleted by illness and suspensions which meant enforced changes.

Their opponents set about the match with a passion and took an early lead.

Juniors looked vulnerable in defence, especially after losing Josh Verity who was injured in a brave attempt at preventing Wardle’s second, but they rallied.

The new strike force of Dominic Heapy and Michael Orford, both more accustomed to a midfield role, began to buzz.

Deft passing and sharp crosses cut through the visitors’ defence, and the goals flowed.

Heapy hit the back of the net four times and player of the match Orford bagged five.

Declan McGarrig, who had a fine game in midfield, got on the scoresheet with a superb strike from 20-yard.
