Boys show their bite against Tigers

18/10/2007

MIDDLETON Boys under 11s were comfortable 6-0 home winners over Little Lever Tigers in the North Bury Junior League’s Challenge Cup.

The first goal came on six minutes when Simon Bradley’s inside ball found Simon Riley bursting through and he hit a terrific strike over the keeper.

On 12 minutes the same combination produced another goal, this time Riley chipping the keeper from the edge of the area.

Middleton were buzzing, and Little Lever had no answer to some fast flowing football.

The lead was extended on 24 minutes when Luke Barry drilled a low shot through a crowded area into a corner of the net.

A fourth wasn’t long in coming. John Ezard's probing ball down the wing was met by Corey Goodey eight-yard out, and he stroked the ball home.

Just before half time Barry created space and thumped the ball into the net from 20-yard out.

The second half was more competitive. Lever had chances but were thwarted by some excellent saves from Daniel Ducie whose positioning was superb.

With 10 minutes left Josh Gorton’s defence-splitting pass found Oliver Cleworth who drew the keeper to score

Player of the match was Simon Riley.
