Cricketers no-balled as starters are postponed

LOCAL cricket followers will have to wait a week longer than expected for the start of the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League season.
Middleton should have opened with an away match against Littleborough on Sunday, but all fixtures scheduled for that day have been postponed and rearranged for Saturday 17 May.
League officials decided on Tuesday that play would have been unlikely this coming weekend due to poor weather forecasts.
There has also been the problem of some grounds not being fully prepared, recent rain and snow having meant maintenance couldn’t be done on most squares.
So, The Moonrakers, who had already cancelled Saturday’s home friendly against Haslingden, will now start, weather permitting, on Sunday 27 April, with a home match against Ashton.
