Protesters to re-form

8/ 6/2006

CAMPAIGNERS who fought to save Booth Hall are furious that NHS bosses may now go back on their promise to keep children's and maternity services at North Manchester General.

When Booth Hall was threatened with closure - a closure that is now confirmed for 2009 - locals were promised that specialist children's services would then be located in Crumpsall.

But Heywood and Middleton PCT has since said it would prefer to have children's and maternity services in Bury, to serve those who live north of the M60.

The campaigners, who are re-forming, plan to write to the Health Secretary, Patricia Hewitt, and urge her to allow NMGH to break free of the Pennine Acute Trust. Anybody who would like to add their support to the campaign can contact Damien O'Connor on 0161 6889430.
