MP to address protest rally

8/ 6/2006

A PUBLIC meeting opposing the proposed 800 redundancies across the four Pennine Acute Trust hospitals will take place next Wednesday (14 June) at North Manchester General Hospital.

Blackley MP Graham Stringer and Pete Hinchcliffe, UNISON branch secretary, will speak at the meeting, which will begain at 7pm in the hospital's postgraduate centre near the main gate on Delauney's Road.

Derek Fraser, member of the Keep Our NHS Public campaign, said: "Already MP Graham Stringer and numerous Labour councillors, together with thousands of concerned north Manchester residents, have joined the campaign to stop these obscene cuts.

"These proposed job cuts would seriously impact on health provision in the north west.

"The camapign to 'Keep our NHS Public' says this government has plenty of money for war (£2.5 miilion a day) but not for our NHS - it's a matter of priorities and we think our NHS is more important than war.

"Come along to the public meeting, log onto www.keepournhspublic.com and download the petition and go down your street with it but, above all, do something to join the campaign to stop this savage attack on our NHS."
