MUSIC lovers across Blackley and beyond will be getting all shook up next month as the glitzy world of Las Vegas comes to town.

Legendary Elvis impersonator, Martin Fox, will be donning his jumpsuit and velcro sideburns for three spectacular shows - proving that the King of swing has definitely not left the building.

Martin, 52, has been impersonating Elvis for decades on stages around the world from the glamour of Las Vegas to the bright lights of Blackpool - but the famous Embassy Club on Rochdale Road is the latest destination for the hunk of love.

Martin said: "I wanted to bring cabaret back to life and back to north Manchester so decided to put on some shows at the Embassy Club.

"I perform once a week at the Queen's Hotel in Blackpool, but I thought it would be good to bring a bit of the magic of Blackpool here."

Martin is known and respected around the world for his impersonation of the hip shaking warbler, but he declared it was now or never and decided to put on a show for the people of north Manchester.

He said: "The Embassy Club is the perfect venue to revive cabaret. The area around is being regenerated and I thought that the entertainment side could be as well."

Martin, who recently moved to Blackley, is also one of the organisers behind the world famous 'walk a mile in my shoes' competiton held on Blackpool promenade every year. Fans and impersonators from all over the world descend on the sunny seaside resort for the numerous events and Martin now hopes that the residents of Middleton will love him tender as well.

He said: "People really enjoy the shows and I just hope that locals will come along."

On 28 April there will be a trinity show - celebrating the three stages in Elvis's career from the early years and first hits, through the rock and roll and movie era and finishing with the comeback Vegas years - Martin's speciality.

So for those of you wanting a good old-fashioned night of entertainment, pull on your blue suede shoes and head down to the Emabssy Club - the mini Graceland of the north.

There will also be a swing to king evening in May and a hunks of love show in June featuring Tom Jones and Elvis.
