All 4 One

MEMBERS of the All 4 One Club celebrated a small windfall last week, as they counted the cash raised by well-wishers at a recent Fund-raising Day.

First up for a commendation was Claire Bierne, who raised £700. Claire, who works for Barclaycard, ran a tombola stall, which generated £350. Barclaycard promised it would match pound for pound anything Claire raised, so the total came to £700.

Next in line for praise was the army of volunteers who manned stalls at St Andrew's Community Hall on the day. As well as bric-a-brac, used toys, second-hand books and craft stalls, helpers sold refreshments and organised a raffle, while others looked after the bouncy castle. Last but not least, were Sian Hickman, aged 14, and Carly Teat, aged 16, from the Nails and Wax Salon, who offered Princess Makeovers to little girls and raised £50. All together, volunteers raised £1,261, which will go some way to keeping the All 4 One Club going.

Ann Cooke is a co-founder of the club, whose son, Jamie, aged 16, has profound physical and mental disabilities. She said: "We've had fantastic support from everyone. As well as those who helped on the Fund-raising Day, we've also been given a wonderful donation by our friends at Middleton's McBride factory, which they raised at their Prohibition Ball.

"The club costs £500 a month to run, so we're grateful for everything people do for us that will keep All 4 One going."

The club caters for 22 youngsters, between the ages of 13 to 17, who have physical or other disabilities, or special needs. Their brothers and sisters are also welcome. Members meet at St Andrew's Community Hall, Longhurst Road, Blackley, on Tuesday nights between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Call youth club leader, Kim Teehan, for further details on 0794 9891421.
