Firm is top in childcare provision

CHILDCARE workers at Middleton's top detergent manufacturer are celebrating the fourth anniversary of the work-based advice and information service.

Robert McBride Ltd held an open day to mark the anniversary of the award winning Childcare Co-ordinator Service, which aims to assist staff members regarding any needs they may have, including information on local provisions such as arranging holiday playschemes, guidance on benefits, Working Tax Credits and Child Tax Credit, and information on the Early Years Grant.

The Middleton Way company is one of the few companies taking the lead in the Government's strategy which encourages employers to address the needs of their staff to balance their work and their home lives.

McBride's have joined forces with the Rochdale Borough Children's Service to offer their workers the best help to achieve this.

The Childcare Co-ordinator Service was awarded the Partnership in Excellence Award in 2000 for excellence in assisting the labour market and the team will be offering help to even more of the Middleton workforce in 2005.

Co-ordinator Donna Badger said: "Rochdale Borough Children's Service look forward to continuing working alongside the staff of McBride's and are hoping to encourage more local employers to invest in this service."
