Tin appeal hits jackpot

EVEN contestants on Bob's Full House would struggle to make their way through Buckingham Bingo's outstanding donation to our Christmas Tin Appeal.

Eyes down for a full house of more than 300 food cans, donated by the generous game-players for the appeal we launched in conjunction with Middleton Round Table, last month.

The items collected will help give a happier Christmas to senior citizens, disabled people and the less fortunate in Middleton.

They will benefit from deposits being made in the specially adapted container in Middleton shopping centre, which is waiting to be filled with tins of all descriptions, as well as everyday items such as soap, razors and talcum powder from our charitable readers.

Sandra Rogers, assistant manager of Buckingham Bingo, said: "It was our caller, Alan Russell, who came up with the idea. We always help for charities such as Children In Need, but this year we decided to support local charities.

"Alan makes the request at our sessions and no one is surprised that the response has been so good - the customers here are always so generous."

There's only one week left to nominate a worthy recipient for a Christmas parcel, so get your nominations in now. Volunteers from Middleton Round Table will doing their usual sterling job of bagging up donations and be delivering parcels before Christmas wherever possible.
