MIDDLETON actress Suranne Jones was the crowning glory as the uniform which will be worn by the volunteers at this year's Commonwealth Games was officially launched.
The former St Peter's RC pupil was on hand to don the purple outfit as it went on show for the first time in Manchester.
Suranne, who plays feisty Karen McDonald in Coronation Street, also added a touch of Northern flair by wearing an updated version of the Manchester flat cap - once associated with Manchester's proud textile industry past.
The flat cap was decided on instead of a baseball cap, specifically because of its historic links with the city.
