New appeal over alleyway death

28/ 1/2002

DETECTIVES in North Manchester have launched a new appeal for information over the death of a 44-year-old man in an alleyway last Thursday.

George Andrew Stevenson from Ancoats was found shortly after 8pm suffering from head injuries, adjacent to an unoccupied house on Wilson Road in Blackley.

He was taken to North Manchester General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post mortem, which was carried out on Friday night, revealed that George died from a haemorrhage at the back of his head.

At this time, his death is still being treated as suspicious but detectives still don't know whether the injuries were inflicted deliberately or by accident.

They would like to hear from anyone who can help them to piece together George's last movements throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

George was last seen alive and well at 7pm and Anyone with any information or who saw George on Wilson Road that night is asked to contact the CID at Collyhurst on 0161 856 3940 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
