A MAN has been charged over a car collision in which a passenger died.

Christopher Bennett, 29, is charged with causing death through driving while under the influence of drink, and having no motor insurance.

It follows a police investigation into the death of William Brookes, 29, Middleton, who was a passenger in a Seat Toledo which veered off Whittle Lane, Heywood, and collided with a wall.

Bennett, of Kenyon Lane, Middleton, is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates' Court on August 17.

Two other passengers were treated in hospital following the crash on January 31 but were not seriously injured.
