Who is your Langley champion?
15/ 5/2008
DO YOU know a tireless volunteer who has dedicated themselves to the Langley estate and its people?
Perhaps they've spent years running community groups, campaigned to make the estate a better place to live or given youth a helping hand.
If so, now's your chance to say a big thank you to them and get them recognised for all the work they do.
In the run up to this year's Langley Festival, the Middleton Guardian, in conjunction with festival organisers, will be highlighting the work of six dedicated volunteers from across the estate.
We'll be running a series of weekly articles, each one focusing on the work of one volunteer in the run up to this year's Langley Festival that's set to be held between the 27 July and 1 August.
As well as an article in the Middleton Guardian highlighting their tireless efforts, the successful champions will then get star treatment on the week of Langley Festival.
But before they can rightfully claim their place and get the recognition they deserve - we need you to let us know who you think is worthy of the title of Langley Champion.
They can come from any field - perhaps they've campaigned to improve the estate, made a big impact, or maybe they've spent years running youth groups that point local teens in the right direction.
All that matters is that they've dedicated themselves to making the estate a better place to live for the thousands of people who call it home.
This year, we're looking to honour six champions, so to put forward someone who you think is worthy of the title, send your nomination, along with your name and address to: Langley Champions 2008, Burnside Centre, 38 Burnside Crescent, Langley, Middleton, Manchester, M24 5NN
Alternatively, email your suggestion to burnsidecentre@btconnect.com and clearly mark the title as 'Langley Champion 2008 entry'.
Votes must be received by 6 June.
Your nominee can be alive or deceased, and must have lived or worked on the estate to make it better at some point. There will be no overall winner and the six champions will be those with the highest number of votes received.
So get voting and get your champion recognised.
