Gym refit is a knockout

KEEPING fit has got a whole lot easier with the opening of a refurbished state-of-the-art gym.
The fitness suite at Furrow Sports Centre has undergone a £60,000 make-over to include the latest keep-fit equipment and plasma TVs.
The ribbon to newly refurbished fitness suite on Windermere Road centre was cut on Monday evening (3 March) by the Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Peter Evans and his wife, Helen.
And to make sure the old gym equipment doesn't go to waste, the Sports Centre donated their old keep fit machines to Middleton Select Boxing Club on Langley.
Furrow Sports Centre manager Ian Robertson said: "It was a fantastic evening. We had about 30 people attend who spent an hour looking at the new equipment before going up to the boxing club and everyone was impressed with our links with them.
"The new gym was open about a week before the official opening and the response has been just incredible. We have had around 70 new members already."
The gym now boasts 28 fitness stations, with brand new LifeFitness gym equipment, including cardiovascular machines, resistance equipment and free weights after they investment by Link4Life.
The sports centre, with its new gym is now open, with pay-as-you and monthly membership options available.
