Toll Tax could be £7.50 - not £5

Pamela Welsh

THE real cost of the proposed congestion charge could be as much as £7.50 per day when it is finally intoduced.

Transport bosses accept the much-publicised £5 per day figure was based on 2007 prices and the real figure, if the charge is introduced, would be subject to inflation.

With the local elections only two weeks away, I would be interested to see which of the candidates running for North Middleton (my ward) would oppose this ridiculous idea of a congestion charge.

At the moment, no party is mentioning it in their "spin" and my vote depends on this issue. I will use my vote to get this insane project, and it's subsequent debt, thrown out.
