Preview: Opera North

OPERA North's winter season comes to The Lowry this week. The highly-regarded, Leeds-based company will perform recitals of three popular operas from Tuesday until Saturday, March 3.

These include Mozart's enchanting final opera The Magic Flute, sung in English and directed by Tim Supple. It will be performed on Tuesday and Thursday.

Donizetti's light-hearted comic production The Elixir Of Love is a lively story of rivalry in love set in the 1950s, and will be performed on Wednesday and Friday.

Opera North, in association with Glimmerglass Opera and Den Norske Opera, will mark the 400th anniversary of Monteverdi's obsessional love story, Orfeo, with a performance on Saturday.
