Manchester's Polytechnic return with their first release on new Manchester label Shatterproof Records. The band's amazing new tune Man Overboard track is released on November 27, and, before that, you can see them live when they appear at the Warehouse Project next Friday (November 17).

Singer/songwriter Becky Higg has just released her debut album Room To Move on Manchester's Massive UK records.

Stand-out tracks Safehouse and Your Sofa are worth the price of the CD alone. Check her out when she plays her album launch at the Bay Horse pub, in the city's Northern Quarter, on November 28.

Lucy And The Caterpillar released her delicious debut single Red Red Wine on Forecast Records, this week. The dinky northern singer-songwriter appears at the consistently ace Unstaged night at the Rampant Lion, in Victoria Park, next Thursday.

Marple's finest The Headlines play Club NME on the same night and they are one of many brilliant Manchester bands appearing on the new compilation from High Voltage.

The new album is released on November 20, and, among many others, also features great tunes from Snowfight In The City Centre, The Answering Machine, Bureau, The Whip, and Maple State.

Get down to see The Redwings play on November 22, at the ever brilliant Bootle Street Circus at Late Room and local jangly guitar heroes The Answering Machine and the Pedestrians are on the bill at Club Blowout on November 24.

Also on the bill are Pop Levi and Rumble Strips; it looks like being one of the gigs of the month.
