A bit about...Barry Douglas

metromagazine
17/ 3/2006

The first thing I do when I wake up is...

Wonder how I can find an excuse to go back to sleep.

Ideally I would spend every day...

Taking my children to school - I only get to do it occasionally as I travel a lot.

If money was no object I would...

Give a lot of it to the homeless and the rest I would spend on my wife.

The greatest gift I have ever received was...

My wife and children.

My one piece of advice would be...

Go for it - have no fear!

My first job was...

A paper round.

I'm scared of...

Journalists!!

I'm excited by...

Technology, as long as my son explains it to me!

If I could go back in time and do one thing again it would be...

Have a honeymoon.

I love...

Sincerity.

I hate...

Deceit.

I want...

Meaning in life.

You have to read...

John McGahern.

Everyone should listen to...

Bach.

You must watch...

Sideways or Groundhog Day.

If I could be anyone else I would be...

My biographer.

My ultimate ambition would be...

To make sense of my life.

My biggest inspiration has been...

Wagner's operas.

The first time I fell in love...

I was seven - we met by the river and scribbled drawings together.

I think God is...

An inspiration, if we don't use him as an excuse for division.

I think the death penalty is...

Not the ideal solution.

My epitaph would be...

He had a go and he had a good time having a go!

Fur or faux?

I don't look great in fur...

Mayonnaise or salad cream?

Neither - I try and make my own renegade variety.

Eastenders or Coronation Street?

Daily Mail or Guardian?

As I live in France I dip into all the papers on the internet. My Dad used to read the Mail, but I like the Guardian when I am in the UK.

Harry or William?

What a question!

United or City?

To be honest I am more into Gaelic football.

Chav or scally?

After extensive research - as I am Irish - I think I may have to come down on the side of the scally person; someone who is not ashamed to be themselves, no matter how the world views them!
