THERE'S nothing more likely to put you into the Christmas spirit than a group of children singing carols.

And while school nativity plays are all very well - as long as you're a parent of the child involved - a much classier operation is being offered at the stunning Bridgewater Hall on Lower Mosley Street.

The Hallé Youth Choir are joined by their adult counterparts for a night of festive magic presented by GMR's breakfast presenter Heather Stott. The Halle carol evening is also being conducted by James Burton.

The Hallé carol concert is held on Friday (December 23).

For an even better Christmas buzz, the Bridgewater Hall is hosting two carol singalongs on Christmas Eve.

The audience will be invited to sing their hearts out as Jonathan Cohen leads them through a jamboree of well-loved Christmas songs.

Special guest singer Sophie-Louise Dann, along with Manchester Chorale and the Manchester Concert Orchestra, will romp through tunes such as I Saw Three Ships, Winter Wonderland, White Christmas, Good King Wenceslas and I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.

There will be two performances of the singalong, one starting at 2pm and the second starting at 5pm.
